Nashville killer apparently killed in explosion

The perpetrator responsible for the explosion in Nashville on Christmas Day acted alone and was killed in the detonation. Representatives from the prosecution and the FBI said Sunday. The perpetrator was identified using DNA samples, the local FBI chief said. Initially, the 63-year-old man’s motive was unclear. His trailer exploded early Friday morning in downtown Nashville. Three people were injured.

Before the blast, a loudspeaker announcement from the trailer called for people to leave the area.

Investigators had found human tissue near the exploded trailer, which could be compared to other DNA samples after a search of his home. “We have concluded that the attacker was a person named Anthony Warner,” said the prosecutor in charge. “He was there when the bomb went off and he died in the explosion.”

Warner was not previously known to police as a suspect, he said. Investigators have not yet provided information on the type of explosive used by the perpetrator.
