Rafael Nadal started his 10th ATP Final on Sunday night with a clear victory over the triumphant Vienna Andrej Rublev. The 20-time Major winner defeated the Russian in the group “London 2020” after 78 minutes 6: 3.6: 4 and will now face last year’s finalist Dominic Thiem on Tuesday in the duel between the winners on Sunday. The Austrian had previously defeated defending champion Stefanos Tsitispas (GRE) in three sets.
For Thiem, it will be his 15th game with the 13-time French Open winner. Thiem is head to head 5: 9, but has the last duel in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open last January with 7: 6 (3), 7: 6 (4), 4: 6.7: 6 (6 ) decided for themselves. In Tuesday’s next group match Thiem, Tsitsipas and Rublew face off, on Thursday Thiem will play his last group match against Rublew.
