A car driver had come around a curve in the middle of the lane on Kleinraminger Landesstrasse and collided with the biker, police reported.

The 54-year-old man, who had been in the crowd with eight other motorcyclists, was thrown into the windshield, crashed into a railing, and fell into a meadow, seriously injured. After first aid, he was taken to the Linz University Hospital by the “Martin 3” emergency helicopter. The driver of the 27-year-old car from the Amstetten district of Lower Austria was not injured. A crisis intervention team looked after the victim’s companions who had witnessed the accident, including the 54-year-old wife.

A two-wheel accident also ended with an injury Saturday night in Waldhausen (Perg district): A 24-year-old man had driven a mountain bike over a ski jump he had built himself and fell while doing so. He flipped over and lay wounded. Sports colleagues came to his aid and announced the rescue. The mountain biker was taken to the Amstetten Clinic with the rescue helicopter.
