More than 500 new infections: Anschober announces analysis – Coronavirus –

After 520 new infections in 24 hours in Austria, which were reported by the Ministry of the Interior and Health on Tuesday, Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Greens) has announced that this number will undergo an analysis. The decisive question is whether it is an “explainable spike – after longer stability – or an uptrend”.

Even if Vienna is mainly affected and the cause lies in “data additions”, despite 329 newly registered people at the same time, it is a “worrying number”, according to Anschober.

“We discussed the figures for today and tomorrow in the expert advisory council and with health officials from the federal states,” said the department head.

The figures for the next few days would provide final information. The Corona Commission, which will meet again Thursday for the next second stoplight change on Friday, is also dealing intensively with the developments.

“The pandemic was expected to resume in September and the following months. This is now a crucial phase,” Anschober said in a statement. Regarding media reports, according to which a free vaccination against the corona virus is set for all Austrians, Anschober could not confirm this on the sidelines of a media meeting. Of course, you want as barrier-free access as possible, he emphasized again. But the details have yet to be negotiated with the government.

Of the 520 new infections, 340 came from Vienna, which, according to the crisis team there, is partly due to previous test results that have now been supplemented. In the past two days, cases reported from Vienna were comparatively low on Sunday 64 and 75 on Monday, but overall they are increasing.

Of the absolute numerical values, 520 new infections in Austria also mean that such a high value was last published on April 2 with 577. Only once were there more than 1,000, specifically 1,074 on March 27. The increase in the number of patients to be treated in a hospital was much smaller: it increased from 163 people to 170, with 28 patients in intensive care units; this value was reduced by one person.

Another Covid-19 related death has been reported in the past 24 hours. There are currently 3,711 “actively infected” people across Austria; A month ago, this value was 1,386, representing an increase of around 2,300 cases. 120 people were hospitalized a month ago, this number has now increased by more than 40 percent and therefore much lower than that of active cases.
