St. Pölten (OTS / NLK) In a few days, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) should issue approval for Covid vaccines. The first vaccinations should start in Lower Austria in a few days on December 28. Initially, up to 4,500 doses of vaccines will be inoculated in the state health agency nursing and care centers, private nursing homes, and clinics. The new vaccination campaign will begin throughout the country in mid-January.

LH Mikl-Leitner: “A few days before Christmas, it is very good news for all of us that the first vaccinations in Lower Austria will soon be able to start. Now we have to make sure that the distribution works well. In general, I think it is advisable to protect yourself with a vaccine. But with a new vaccine in particular, you have to rely on voluntariness. I am also convinced that the willingness to get vaccinated increases over time. Personally, I will definitely get vaccinated. “

LH MP Pernkopf: “Crown disease brings a lot of suffering and restrictions in our world. Therefore, every day that we can use effective vaccines is a day won for people’s health. Vaccination is one of the basic components, if not the most important, in the fight against the corona epidemic. We want to proceed with a clear and coordinated step-by-step plan and rely 100 percent on voluntariness and freedom of choice. Of course, I will also get vaccinated personally. In addition, the next area tests will take place in Lower Austria on January 9 and 10.

“The news that COVID-19 vaccines can be vaccinated in the state for the first time before the turn of the year looks extremely positive. First, we will vaccinate people and employees in care facilities who are particularly worthy of protection. However, the change has not yet been made. It is very important that we respect distance and hygiene measures to minimize the risk of infection and it is essential that we convince as many people as possible to participate in antigen testing in early January. In parallel, preparations for vaccines are in full swing, ”said Regional Councilor Königsberger-Ludwig.
