The Indian summer brings pleasantly warm temperatures of up to 30 degrees through Wednesday inclusive; Thursday, a fault zone ensures degrees of dip, including a storm warning.
Vienna As the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) revealed on Sunday, the Indian summer will stay with us until midweek. After that, the above-average sunny and warm weather is over for the moment – a breakthrough makes Austria cool.
The forecast in detail
Monday there is high pressure sunny weather. There is little fog in the early morning, in the afternoon the sky is usually almost clear, with the exception of a few thin clouds at high altitude. Daily maximum temperatures reach 24 to 30 degrees.
The influence of high pressure also causes Tuesday a warm, sunny and late summer climate spreads. Only in some places there is some fog in the Alpine interior, in the places of the southern basin and in the northern foothills of the Alps. During the day, most of the time only veil clouds appear high in the sky. At best, a little more cumulus clouds emerge in the extreme west over the mountains. The temperatures correspond to those of the previous day.
A.M Wednesday the influence of high pressure weakens somewhat, but in many regions it is still predominantly sunny and warm in late summer. Fields of morning fog usually dissolve quickly, then the sun often shines alongside high veil clouds. At lunchtime and in the afternoon, cumulus clouds appear over the mountains, especially along the main Alpine range. In the southwest, the tendency for showers and thunderstorms increases. Otherwise, stay friendly and dry at all times. Again there are 24 to almost 30 degrees.
A fault zone stops Thursday from the west and causes some clouds and sometimes stormy rain. Sometimes there is only sun in the middle, but the sun is brightest in the far west. In the southern parts of the country it is mostly sunny before there are more cumulus clouds, as well as individual showers and thunderstorms. It cools from 20 to 26 degrees.
Thunderstorm forecast for Thursday afternoon (around 5pm): In much of the country there is sometimes an acute risk of thunderstorms
Some cloud remains Friday initially mainly along the northern side of the Alps. During the day it is quite sunny in many places before some flat clouds and good weather appear. It remains free of precipitation everywhere. The maximum daily temperatures are between 17 and 25 degrees.
