After two of the four flights in the World Ski Flight Championships in Planica (SLO), Michael Hayböck is involved in a medal. Karl Geiger is at the helm (GER) ahead of Halvor Eigner Granverud (NOR) and Markus Eisenbichler (GER).

Due to the injury-related loss of World Cup winner Stefan Kraft, the ÖSV team started with rookie Timon-Pascal Kahofer as the fourth athlete in individual competition. After the cancellation of the event in March this year due to the Covid-19 virus, it will now be held on the Slovenian flying hill.

After Michael Hayböck managed to convince in qualifying with a flight of 247.5 meters and thus finished second, the Upper Austrian was able to continue this performance in today’s competition. The flights at 245.5 and 217 meters mean fourth place for the 29-year-old. Philipp Aschenwald showed flights at 201.5 and 218 meters and is 18th after two of four races. Gregor Schlierenzauer is 26th at halftime. The Tyrolean landed at 193 and 199.5 meters. Newcomer Kahofer missed the second round in 34th place.

Tomorrow, Saturday, competition flights three and four are scheduled. The start is at 4 pm On Sunday from 4 pm the team competition will conclude the world championship in Planica.
