The head of MediaMarktSaturn Austria, Csongor Nemet, justified the move on Monday.
In the 37 Media stores and 15 Saturn stores in Austria, sales employees are required to re-use mouth and nose protection (MNS) in the form of masks or face shields.
Customers via informational signs are advised to use such protection when entering markets, it said in a broadcast by the electronics retailer. “We are pleased to offer you a free disposable mask for this,” reads the Mediamarkt home page.
Furthermore, cleaning and disinfection measures are being intensified and safety and hygiene regulations are being actively recommended to customers again. Additional protection and hygiene measures are established in addition to all the officially ordered requirements.
