Math Matura: new grading scheme, fewer calculators

Previous rating system

Type 1 assignments represent the “core area” and are the most serious part of the grade: if at least two-thirds of the answers in Part 1 are correct (16 out of 24), the grade for the entire exam is positive on any case. If only a few points are missing in Part 1, it is possible to compensate for them with the so-called compensation points in Part 2. However, if two-thirds is still not achieved, then the entire Matura will be evaluated negatively. In both parts, he could score 24 points, a total of 48 points.

New rating system

Generally, you can only get 36 points instead of the 48 points above. In part 1 you can get 24 points as before, in part 2 only 12 points. This part, in which deep knowledge was consulted, was often criticized because the tasks often spanned several pages. Much should change now: in total there should be four tasks – the first task should be in a reduced context and you can achieve four points that are independent of each other. There are also 4 points for each of the other three assignments, but only the 2 assignments for which the high school graduate has scored the most (“best assessment”) are assessed.

New points key: this is how the qualification is carried out

32 – 36 points: very good

27 – 31.5 points: Good

22 – 26.5 points: Satisfactory

17 – 21.5 points: sufficient

0 – 16.5 points: insufficient
