UPPER AUSTRIA, BRAUNAU DISTRICT (ebba). The first major Covid 19 population test in Upper Austria ended Monday at 8 p.m. The Upper Austrians were able to get tested at one of 150 test stations across the state and make a contribution. More than 1,200 people positive for Covid-19 could be filtered (as of December 14 at 5 pm).
“Anyone who unknowingly discovers who is a carrier of the virus is crucial if we want to effectively break the chains of infection or prevent them from emerging in the first place,” says Governor Thomas Stelzer.
315,281 tests were carried out in Upper Austria. Of these, 1,243 were positive. Including the numbers of the 3,135 police officers who were tested in Upper Austria and the 25,953 teachers tested, the big picture is as follows: 344,369 tests tested, of which 1,306 were positive. The participation rate is around 27.5 percent.

In order to offer the best possible security for the upcoming Christmas holidays and family celebrations, the state of Upper Austria will also offer free rapid tests for the population at selected locations before Christmas. This offer is intended to complement existing testing options at doctors and pharmacies.
A second round of massive testing is planned across the country from January 8-10, 2021.
