On the third day of the massive nationwide crown tests on Sunday, the spotlight turned to Flachgau, Tennengau and Pongau. Up to 589 people could be tested at the same time in the three districts, as many test roads had been established in the communities.
A total of 72,589 people participated in the massive tests. In Flachgau 41,996 people participated (34.2 percent), 154 rapid tests were provisionally positive. In Tennengau there were 13,554 people (28.4 percent) with 99 positive tests for the coronavirus. And in Pongau, 17,039 people were eliminated, that is, 26.6 percent. 71 tests were positive here.
Massive testing in 75 communities
The tests were carried out in 75 communities in the north and center of Salzburg; the Tennengau community of Annaberg-Lungötz completed a test run on December 1 and 2. The authorities actively informed anyone who had a positive rapid test, followed by a PCR test.
More than 34 percent stake in Flachgau
Of the 122,756 residents of Flachgau “authorized to test,” that is, residents aged 16 and older who tested positive in the past three months, 41,996 came to test today. This results in a 34.2 percent turnout, the highest of all districts. The number of positive cases is 154. This is a preliminary number, the PCR test for these 154 people is still pending.
Pongau: more than 17,000 were tested
The turnout in the St. Johann district was 28.4 percent. 17,039 Pongau people out of 63,960 “test people” were informed about their Covid-19 status by smear. 71 of them were positive. Confirmation by a PCR test is pending here too.
Tennengau: Almost 30 percent participated
Tennengau’s stake was slightly higher than Pongau’s, exactly 28.4 percent. 13,554 of 47,796 “test persons” followed the call. 99 people who test positive after the rapid test must take the PCR test.
Tests in social institutions on Monday
Tomorrow, Monday, tests will be carried out in nursing homes and facilities for people with disabilities, around 5,330 people in almost 100 homes.
Haslauer: “Great organizational challenge”
“The fact that this great organizational challenge is mastered so efficiently and effectively is due to the great commitment of the hundreds of people involved. It is not a routine matter to bring your own workforce on the third weekend of Advent and also dedicate countless hours to the preparation. I would like to thank those who were put to the test, they are the success of the organizers, “said Governor Wilfried Haslauer (ÖVP) in a broadcast.
Salzburg is considering the extension of free trials
Following the Tyrolean initiative to offer antigen testing permanently and free of charge, Salzburg is also considering expanding voluntary testing. “We will examine the possibility,” a spokesman for Governor Wilfried Haslauer (ÖVP) said at the request of the APA. It is not immediately planned yet, but the country will not rule out the possibility.
First, however, they want the massive tests to end on Sunday in Salzburg. All Salzburg citizens received clarity by participating in the mass test, Haslauer’s spokesman said. Due to massive testing, there are also enough test kits for further free antigen testing. The capacity would be available, if there was a need for voluntary testing immediately before the holidays, says the spokesman for the governor of Salzburg.
Governor Günther Platter (ÖVP) announced Saturday afternoon that the Tyrolean population should be able to get tested for the coronavirus for free from December 19 until 2021.
