At the weekly press conference on the revival of the crown traffic light for Austria, the government also announced the return of the mask requirement.
“I know many do not believe it yet. But: it is getting serious again” – with these words, Chancellor Sebastian Kurz summed up Corona’s situation in Austria on Friday morning. From Thursday to Friday there were again 580 new infections in Austria. The capital Vienna, which narrowly escaped an orange switch at the Corona traffic light, accounted for 265 of them. “If you look at the development of the last few weeks, you will see that there is a strong and steady increase. We have some challenges, health and economic, to face,” Kurz said. “It is not yet clear if this is the end of the story.” It cannot be ruled out that it is necessary to “regrind” it. The chancellor asked the Austrians “to be more cautious again.” A second blockade, which Israel already faces again, will be avoided at all costs, Foreign Minister Kurz and Vice Foreign Minister Kogler said in unison.
