After parting ways with Gerald Baumgartner, assistant coach Gerhard Schweitzer will coach Rieder in the final match before winter break in Tyrol on Sunday. The 57-year-old is known as the “Eminence Gray” in Ried, where he has already been alongside Alfred Tatar, Heinz Fuchsbichler, Michael Angerschmied and Paul Gludovatz as “Co”.
When Baumgartner lay in bed with a cold for ten days, Schweitzer won a 4-3 victory against Rapid. Since the Rieder veteran does not want to become a permanent boss, Innviertel is once again on the prowl.
The name Klaus Schmidt appeared as a candidate. The Styrian is out for a walk right now, well paid. Schmidt received a leave of absence from Admira in March. Curious: Due to the decline created later under his successor Zvonimir Soldo, Schmidt’s contract was extended for one year until 2021. According to information from KURIER, there has been no contract termination so far.
Without details
Currently there are two Austrian coaches available who recently participated in the 2nd division. Thomas Grumser, for example, who had to leave Wacker Innsbruck in the summer at the request of the German investor. And David Preiß, who led the GAK from the regional league to the second division. The 42-year-old is also on the current course for the highest coaching education, the UEFA Pro license, under which he can also coach clubs in the first division.
The fourth name is that of a Ried veteran: Ronny Brunmayr, as Preiss currently in the highest training course, has been successfully coaching Blau-Weiß Linz since the summer. In his playing career, the 45-year-old coach scored two goals for the Innviertel team. The Rieder would probably have to pay a transfer fee for it.
The new man should be known at the beginning of the training in early January. The Rieder did not even want to announce details of the requirements profile when asked.
