Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram receives a six-game suspension after his spit attack on Hoffenheim’s Stefan Posch.
The control committee of the German Football Federation (DFB) announced it on Monday.
Five games will be served directly from the suspension that applies to Bundesliga and cup games. The sixth game will be suspended until December 21, 2021. In addition, Thuram has to pay a fine of 40,000 euros.
Borussia Mönchengladbach already issued an internal penalty for the French offensive player on Sunday. Thuram has to pay a monthly salary that will be used for a social cause. This was announced by the Gladbach company after a conversation between professional and sports director Max Eberl. Thuram accepted the punishment and volunteered to be involved in a social cause, the message said.
