Since a group parted ways with Black Wings Linz in the spring of 2020 and founded a new club, there has been an uproar in the city of steel. HCB Südtirol Alperia, meanwhile, want to improve in the Tyrolean duel against Innsbruck.

After the victory against Dornbirn, the prestigious duel with Innsbruck (Tuesday, 8.15pm) is on the program at HC Bozen. If there is support from Bratislava, the Foxes, who made people sit down and take notice on Sunday with the signing of Canadian Karl Stollery, could extend their lead. Dan Catenacci probably won’t be able to help with this. The Italian-Canadian had to be injured from the ice against Dornbirn and threatens to fail in the Tyrolean duel.
As things are going in Bozen, things look just as bad in Linz. The Black Wings are at the bottom of the table with 18 points, and now there is also a request to resign at the managerial level. President Peter Freunschlag and his CEO Gregor Baumgartner are increasingly in the crossfire of criticism. Almost 900 people have already signed the online petition.
Next attempt: EHV Linz aims to enter the league
Regardless of the problems with the Black Wings, competing club EHV Linz aims to enter the ICE Hockey League. The High Austrians want to be a part of next season. To do this, the club needs the approval of the remaining ICE clubs. In the summer, the vote against the EHV Linz was still open. However, the Stahlstädter is considered likely to achieve a two-thirds quorum (7 out of 10 ICE clubs must accept admission).
The league itself would welcome the entry of another club, if it finally had an even number of participants again. The future of Znojmo, who will not participate in ICE this season due to financial concerns, is unclear. Then there are the Alpine hockey league players: HC Pustertal (the application has been deposited) and the Slovenians from Olimpija (for the Ljubljana club it would be a comeback) are playing with an ICE entry from next season.
