645 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours. The number of people in hospital treatment has increased significantly, with an additional 26 patients treated in normal wards. There were eight additional patients in the intensive care unit. 14,552 PCR tests have been recorded since Monday.
This means that fewer than 15,000 tests were logged in the last 24 hours; At the end of the previous week, there were still around 18,000 tests per day. In recent weeks it has been the case that the number of tests on Tuesday has always increased, because evaluations from the weekend were added. The average number of new cases in the last seven days has risen to 714. Fewer people were actively infected in Vienna, Tyrol, Lower Austria, Upper Austria and Vorarlberg than on Monday.

On Monday, 364 people in Austria had to be treated in the hospital, on Tuesday there were already 390. The number of patients in intensive care units also increased significantly: from 67 on Monday to 75 on Tuesday, which means an increase of almost twelve percent.
771 people have died as a result of the corona virus since the pandemic outbreak, four more deaths compared to Monday. A total of 39,303 people have tested positive so far.
86 new cases in Upper Austria
As far as the newly added corona cases go, the highest number of 205 cases was registered again in the federal capital on Tuesday, meaning there were 4,350 active cases here on Tuesday. There were 86 new cases each in Upper Austria (737 active cases) and Styria (529 active cases). There was a plus of 85 in Lower Austria (1,074 active cases). In the last 24 hours, 77 positive tests were reported in Salzburg, which means there are now 263 active cases. Tirol had a plus of 54 and, therefore, registered 597 actively infected. 27 new cases were reported in Vorarlberg, in the westernmost federal state, 455 people are actively infected with SARS-CoV-2. Burgenland registered 14 cases (118 active cases) and Krnten 11, with a total of 97 actively infected, the southernmost federal state remains the only one with fewer than 100 active cases.
The number of tests recorded in the epidemiological registry (EMS) of the individual federal states in the last 24 hours was again very different. In Burgenland there were only 303, in Salzburg 507, in Krnten 598 and in Vorarlberg 847. All other federal states carried out more than 1,000 tests in some cases. Tyrol recorded 1,283 PCR tests. Upper Austria 1,411 and Styria 2,336. 2,345 tests were added from Lower Austria and most of them were carried out in the federal capital as before. There were 4,922 tests compared to Monday. A total of 1,472,647 PCR tests have been carried out throughout Austria since the start of the pandemic.
