Lesbos: Kogler wants to host 100 families – politics

The leader of the Greens and Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler is in favor of accepting 100 families from the refugee camps of Lesbos.

“It is no longer just a migration and refugee policy, it is a humanitarian emergency, first aid, you simply cannot look the other way,” explains Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler in an interview with the “Kronen Zeitung”. The Greens have always taken a clear line on the refugee issue and supporters are increasing in and around the ÖVP.

Just lip-smacking at Christmas?

“Austria would be in good shape, the turquoise half would not fail if we accept 100 families in Austria, in concert with other European countries, following our European values,” said Kogler. Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen, Cardinal Christoph Schönborn and various celebrities such as Andre heller or Marc janko (Video) for the reception of refugees from the Lesbos camps.

In response to Kogler’s testimony, the deputy leader of the NEOS party wrote Sepp schellhorn in a broadcast: “Lip service in interviews will not save a single child.” The behavior of the Greens since their participation in the government is in no way determined by a “clear position”. And also: “If you really want to save the refugees from the Greek island camps together with us, please spare yourself the nice words, just because Christmas is just around the corner. We will finally see the action!”
