RB Leipzig made it to the knockout stages of the DFB Cup on Tuesday night. The third in the Bundesliga won the duel with league rival Augsburg, thanks to goals from Willi Orban (11th), Yussuf Poulsen (75th) and Angelino (82nd), deservedly 3-0. ÖFB team player Marcel Sabitzer played on the Leipzig offense. On the other hand, forward Michael Gregoritsch was unable to put himself in the spotlight.
The end came for Hoffenheim in 1899. The Bundesliga team lost to Christoph Baumgartner (up to 57th), but without Florian Grillitsch and Stefan Posch, a thriller against second-division Greuther Fürth 6-7 on penalties. After 90 and 120 minutes it was 2-2. Fürth, with victory in mind, had awarded a penalty in regulation time injury, but was later rewarded with a hit.
A rare sense of accomplishment – in the league they have not won 29 games – came for Schalke 04. In the last game with interim coach Huub Stevens, fourth division SSV Ulm were beaten 3-1. At the end of a completely messy year, Suat Serdar (27th) and twice Benito Raman (51st, 63rd) achieved only the fourth competitive victory in 2020. Alessandro Schöpf played the full 90 minutes.
1. FC Köln also fixed the raise in a duel with second division VfL Osnabrück, where Lukas Gugganig played, with a 1-0 home win.
