Manchester City, former English football champions, have successfully defended their leadership in the Premier League championship.
January 30, 2021
With their eighth straight win with a tough 1-0 (1-0) against bottom-line Sheffield United, City extended their lead in internal city competition with record chasers and champions Manchester United to three points. ManUnited had to settle for a number zero at Arsenal for the night.
The Citizens unexpectedly fought relegation candidate Sheffield despite the initial leadership of Gabriel Jesus (ninth). The team of the head coach Pep Guardiola lacked the punch before the tight defense of the guests.
The Hunters from Manchester’s leading duo only get in on the action on Sunday. The fourth champion, Liverpool FC, must compete in the top game at fifth place in the West Ham United table. Coach Thomas Tuchel is looking forward to his first win as Chelsea FC manager: in the second match, led by Frank Lampard’s successor, the Blues will host Burnley FC.
