Late registrations lead to an increase in deaths from Covid

218 deaths in one day: it would be the highest number of people who died with a Covid-19 infection. The key word is: would be. Because the number is completely wrong.

Yes, there are 218 deaths per crown, but not from Wednesday to Thursday. The death toll released Thursday includes an additional 120 deaths due to a data comparison with the Vienna AGES, the Interior Ministry and Health Ministry reported.

Vienna has switched to the AGES method of counting deaths. For this reason, in addition to the 15 people who actually died, another 120 were added in 24 hours.

Negative numbers of deaths

Statistical adjustments have been made since Statistics Austria took over tracking crown numbers in the spring. In the summer there were even days when there were negative numbers of deaths. That’s because the cause of death has been corrected. That still happens now. This was most noticeable in the summer, as there were one or two deaths per week in Austria at that time. Now it is many times more every day.

And now these statistical adjustments are also being made. Both down and up. Those late registrations are deaths that were initially given with a different cause of death, but the deceased was later found to have a Covid infection. Therefore, death belongs to the Covid statistics.
