The 3-0 Europa League loss to Tottenham probably caused disappointment at LASK as well. It is said that especially President Siegmund Gruber did not agree with the appearance in London.
Coach Dominik Thalhammer was proud of his team after the clear 4-0 win against SKN St. Pölten (match report >>>).
“Overall, it was a very strong performance for my team,” Linz’s coach said on “Sky.” Unlike Tottenham, this time his men constrained the opponent deep into the opposing half and gave Robert Ibertsberger’s team barely any air to breathe.
“Do not dissuade us from the results”
The Linz team performed well during the game in London, as Thalhammer confirmed after the game: “We also analyzed the result critically, but we saw equally good things and if you follow the path, you keep your balance.”
For comeback scorer Thomas Goiginger, the Linzers’ performance was “very impressive.” LASK’s fourth goal scorer expressed concern, especially in the context of “having to play a very difficult game on Thursday.”
While Mourinho’s troop showed the Linzers their limits in London, they were able to show a different face to the SKN from the start. SKN coach Robert Ibertsberger was also impressed by the opponent’s performance: “The opponent was extremely strong, it was a well deserved victory. It should have been higher, as many scoring opportunities as missed. We have to be happy to be with 0: 4 well served “.

LASK again extremely stable
Anyone who has seen team Thalhammer stumble after weak weeks in terms of results – in the league the team from Linz had to draw a 3-0 draw against Rapid – has now learned better with the black and white. By strengthening the team, the team should be well prepared for the difficult weeks ahead.
Goiginger and Potzmann were able to recover a few minutes after their serious injuries and newcomers Madsen, Cherbenko, Grgic and Gruber have been in the team for a few weeks now and should internalize “LASK-DNA” better and better.
Of course, Andreas Gruber, signed by Mattersburg and who started the avalanche of goals against St. Pölten, was the fastest. But Grgic was also thrown into the back by Thalhammer in London when the coach had to react to James Holland’s injury after just a few minutes. In the match against St. Pölten, the midfielder also rewarded himself for a courageous performance with his first goal in the LASK suit.
The Linzers will also need the large squad as there will be extremely difficult tasks for the Thalhammer-Elf in the coming weeks with the Europa League matches against Ludogorets and Antwerp and the league match in Graz, against the resurgent Sturm. However, if the Linzers can match the performance against St. Pölten, LASK will have a say in the current season, both on promotion to the knockout stage of the Europa League and at the head of the Bundeliga.
