LASK was on the first day of this year’s Europa League group stage to London, where the athletes met the English club Tottenham Hotspur. “It was a great experience,” Dominik Thalhammer said in an exclusive interview with Ligaportal reporter Herbert Pumann after returning to Linz. The result was finally clear: the Premier League giant won 3-0.
“We would have needed a dream day if we wanted to take something with us”
The Linz coach was not entirely satisfied with the performance of the first half: “In the first half we couldn’t do things that well and we had tactical problems,” Thalhammer emphasized. In the second half the performance of the Austrians was better: “In the second half we had a lot of ball victories and Tottenham made mistakes,” Thalhammer analyzed.
Of course, the injuries suffered by James Holland, Rene Renner and Andrés Andrade also hurt. Thalhammer on the trio’s health: “It doesn’t look good with two players, they will probably not be available on Sunday,” the LASK coach said. Peter Michorl revealed to Ligaportal that Rene Renner had apparently suffered a concussion.
“We would have needed a dream day if we wanted to take something and that was not the case,” said Peter Michorl of the game. “Tottenham took the game seriously, so there wasn’t much to gain,” the playmaker continued.
