LASK-Gegner Dunajska Streda: Lorant, Kranjcar, Garger, Sariyar, ..

[ad_1]

LASK is being tested.

In the last season of the Bundesliga, a better international starting place was lost due to the well-known violations and the bad sporting streak, the reality is the 3rd qualifying round for the Europa League.

The opponent: DAC Dunajska Streda. The Slovak first division has nothing to do with the DAC that we know as “Districtus Austriae Controllatus”, which is the legal abbreviation for quality wines that are particularly typical of the region.

Regardless, the opponent is anything but a stranger and a kind of neighbor. The city of 23,000 is just 63.6 kilometers or 55 minutes by car from the Kittsee border crossing. LASK has progressed compared to any rival in the Bundesliga.

Not surprisingly, the club, which was founded in 1903, is a popular test rival for Austrian clubs and will always be a reminder of the start of the Austrian Salzburg European Cup success streak in the early 1900s. 1990. With a 2-0 at home (goals: Amerhauser, Pfeifenberger) and a 2-0 away (goals: Stadler, Pfeifenberger) began the triumphant advance in the first round of the UEFA Cup against Dunajska Streda, who he only ended up in the final against Inter Milan. .

Furthermore, there has always been a certain Austrian DNA in the DAC, be it coaches, players or familiar faces from the Bundesliga. In addition, big names formed, almost star coaches, the Slovaks.

LAOLA1 provides an overview:

The “Dunaszerdahelyi Atletikai Club” is a special club, also in Slovakia. Because the club is the figurehead of the Hungarian minority in Slovakia.

In addition to the aforementioned red-white-red exports, it is mainly the Hungarian legionnaires that are establishing themselves there. The former Hungarian team boss is currently training the DAC with German Bernd Storck and Viktor Orban is working in the background as a financier.

Special requirements in a special club. A look at the current list of employees reveals a name that has definitely made its mark in Austria and is still active for Dunajska Streda: Jan Novota.

COACH (LEGEND) AND AUSTRIAN IN DAC:

JAN NOVOTA:

The now 36-year-old Slovak was loyal to Austria for six years. From 2011 to 2017 he was under contract with SK Rapid and earned his laurels as a goalkeeper. Not always number one, but Novota was a loyal soul who was good for greens and whites, did not cause any disturbances, and also got the job done professionally in the second row. After Rapid he played in Debrecen in Hungary before ending his career and returning to his homeland. At Dunajska Streda, for whom he also played in his active career, he worked as a goalkeeping coach for the youth from 2018 until recently in the summer of 2020. Since then he has served as goalkeepers for the Slovak women’s team.

PETER HYBALLA:

Who does not remember? “My name is Peter Hyballa, Low Hy, Speedy Balla, that’s how we try to play football too.” With these words, the German introduced himself in 2012 as the coach of Sturm Graz. Lively, youthful, different: these are the characteristics of the tactical fox, which will trigger mixed memories among Sturm fans. The guest appearance in Graz didn’t even last a year, even before he was supposed to present talents to the RB Juniors for a few months. At Dunajska Streda, he lasted a year and a half from 2018. He proved himself to be an expert, especially on the Wolfsburg, Dortmund and Leverkusen offspring. He finished his job as a coach and training manager at the DFB in 2018 at his own request after a few weeks.

WERNER LORANT:

One of the greatest coaching legends also won the honors in Slovakia, twice. His methods helped the German achieve world fame, examples like those learned by Peter Pacult under his reign. For nine years he was THE coach in 1860 Munich before discovering the big world and letting some exotic clubs follow suit. At Dunajska Streda he was stranded in the 2008/09 season and again for just three games in 2012. The 71-year-old recently coached FC Hallein in the fifth highest Austrian division.

KURT GARGER:

The last Austrian coach to be in charge of LASK’s next opponent was none other than Kurt Garger. The former Rapid, Tirol and Salzburg pro, now 60, had only three international spots in his coaching career. FSV Frankfurt, in the end the Yunnan Flying Tigers in China and in the middle Dunajska Streda. Garger came from Parndorf and coached the Fortuna League club for a year in the 2009/10 season, at that time with Jan Novota as goalkeeper. Garger was given leave shortly before the end of the season because he had claimed outstanding wages.

ZLATKO KRANJCAR:

“Zizo” was not only remembered as a talented kicker at Rapid (with Hütteldorfer he was a two-time champion, a cup champion, a three-time Super Cup winner and was in the 1985 Recopa de Europa final against Everton) , but also as a successful coach. At the 2006 World Cup, he coached the Croatian national team, was the head of the Montenegro team and has 25 clubs in his career, including Dinamo Zagreb and Dunajska Streda. In 2009 he took the title in Slovakia for two months and eight games, but could only get one win in eight games.

ROBERT PFLUG:

It was the only foreign station of the now 75-year-old to start his career as an assistant coach to Otto “Maximal” Baric at Sturm Graz. Pflug coached mainly in the Styria region, first Kapfenberg and then Sturm as head coach. In 1991/92 he was the last royal Styrian to train Sturm, until Christian Ilzer took over the “Blackies” that summer. After nine years with Gratkorn, he came to Slovakia via Zeltweg and Oberwart, where he cared for Dunajska Streda in the second half of the 2004 season.

Former ÖFB legionaries in Dunajska Streda:

Rolf Landerl:

A total of three players from the ÖFB team played at Dunajska Streda, which are listed here. Rolf Landerl made it to an international match in Leverkusen in 2002, against Germany of all places. The Viennese injured his shoulder, but above all he remembered that Sebastian Deisler injured his knee so much in this duel that the World Cup was marked for him and his career never recovered. Landerl played for several years in the Netherlands, in Austria, among others, for Admira and GAK. In the summer of 2008 he moved to Dunajska Streda, then under Werner Lorant. After scoring a goal in the first game, he was no longer the first choice and was temporarily relegated to the second team, so he terminated his contract after just six months in winter and let his career end at Schwadorf, Lübeck and St. Margarethen. Speaking of VfB Lübeck: The 44-year-old has been a head coach there since 2016, and this summer he was promoted to third division.

Yuksel Sariyar:

Some 13 proud ÖFB appearances (1 goal) are a credit to the midfielder. In LASK and Turkey it was not enough, but the strong promotion with FC Pasching earned him a nomination for team A. He then played for Austria and Wiener Neustadt before finishing with Dunajska Streda. After only seven missions in the spring of 2010, he left Slovakia again and then let his career end in the Lower House of Austria.

Bartolomé Kuru:

It wasn’t enough for team A, but Kuru went through all of the ÖFB youth teams up to U21. Particularly noteworthy is his participation in the 2007 U-20 World Cup in Canada, where he finished sensationally fourth with Austria. In the group match against Chile he was allowed to play for 90 minutes. Kuru went through the Frank Stronach Academy, but was never able to prevail in Austria. Via LASK and Grödig, it landed at Dunajska Streda, where it was not used even once in 2009/10. In Austria Klagenfurt, St. Pölten or Wiener Neustadt, things did not necessarily go according to plan. He has been under contract with Masonry since the summer.

Other players with connection to Austria in Dunajska Streda:

Amadou Rabihou, Güven Dag, Markus Seelaus, Cemil Tosun, Sladjan Pajic, Habinderjit Sohal, Richard Wemmer, Nizar Ben Nasra.
