The roof of Radatz’s butcher shop was on fire. The fire department went on a large scale to prevent the fire from spreading.

After nearly four hours of full-scale operation in Vienna-Liesing, the Vienna fire brigade was able to report “fire” on Friday evening. More than 100 emergency services have been working since 5.15 pm to control a large fire on the roof of a company (Radatz butcher) on Erlaaer Straße 187. The fire had to be fought extensively to prevent it from spreading to neighboring properties and other parts of the building. There were no injuries.

Alarm level 2 was activated after company employees reported the fire around 5:15 pm The fire department deployed with 15 vehicles and more than 100 men. Two water cannons battled the flames using revolving ladders. In addition, there were other extinguishing lines from inside and outside the building, said fire department spokesman Jürgen Figerl.

Even after the fire was under control after three hours, which meant that it could no longer spread, the work of the emergency services was still not finished. In addition to the additional extinguishing work inside and outside, parts of the roof had to be laboriously split open with special cut-off saws in order to combat the embers. A special unit, the professional fire brigade height rescuers, also came to support. The fire did not go out until after 9:00 p.m., except for some embers. The cause of the fire was initially unclear.
