Kubacki wins the New Years event with a hill record

In the second competition of the Four Hills Tournament in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Dawid Kubacki (282.1 points) won the day. The defending tournament champion jumped a new hill record in the second round with a dream jump to 144 meters.

Half-time leader and World Cup leader Halvar Egner Granerud (NOR / 274.9) had to settle for second place at the end, but takes the lead of the circuit. Third was Piotr Zyla (260.4) from Poland, ahead of his compatriot Kamil Stoch (260.0).

Oberstdorf winner Karl Geiger had to settle for fifth place and is now second overall, four points behind World Cup leader Norway.

Aschenwald Best Austrian

Philipp Aschenwald missed the podium by just 2.7 points and finished sixth as the best Austrian (130m / 136.5m – 257.7 points). Aschenwald is now also sixth overall in the Four Hills Tournament. His gap with the leader Granerud is 24.3 points.

Daniel Huber (13th), Jan Hörl (21st) and Thomas Lackner (23rd) did not make the top 10.

Black New Years Day for the Force

Stefan Kraft (226.1 points), who did not make a good jump in both rounds, has no chance of winning the overall after finishing 28th. In the overall ranking, Kraft is now 14th.
