Stefan Kraft is world champion on the big hill. The man from Salzburg won with jumps in 132.5 and 134.0 m with 4.4 points ahead of Norwegian Robert Johansson (129.5 / 135.5) and German Karl Geiger (132.0 / 132.0) third individual gold medal after the 2017 double. Daniel Huber dropped from third to eighth in the final.
Kraft’s success wasn’t necessarily to be expected after the season so far. At the World Cup, the ÖSV jumpers have been without a single victory in 25 competitions.
Huber, who is still waiting for his first World Cup victory, came in after 133.5 to 123.5m and fell back. World Cup rookie Jan Hörl (127m / 136.5m) and Philipp Aschenwald (123.5 / 130) climbed to 10th and 11th places in the final, raising hopes for more precious metals in the competition for teams on Saturday (5 pm / ORF 1 live).
