“I would give you some advice: I would no longer take the chair in place until these possible or real contradictions have been resolved,” said the leader of the Greens in the “ZiB 2” of the ORF on Friday night in view of the continuous criticism of Sobotka.
After the SPÖ and NEOS, the Greens recently asked Sobotka to suspend the presidency. The reason for this was the known payments made by the Novomatic gaming group to clubs close to the president of the National Council. Regarding demands that Sobotka let the presidency rest, Kogler said: “MPs enjoy my trust here, especially the Greens.” There is “obviously a need for clarification for most groups in some cases that are being investigated here.” At the same time, he emphasized that he had come to appreciate the president of the National Council during the coalition negotiations.
In the “ZiB2”, the vice-rector spoke not only of the Ibiza-U Committee, but also of the rumor that a second confinement was planned, the federal government’s crown strategy for the coming weeks and months, the situation of the refugees after the fire de Moria and the deposit system for one-way bottles. The entire interview:
U-Committee next week dedicated to “Prikraf”
The Ibiza investigation committee next week will focus on the “Prikraf” cause. Behind the bulky abbreviation is the private company financing fund, which has become the focus of MPs’ attention because ÖVP and FPÖ donors are said to have benefited from changes in the law under the turquoise blue . On Thursday, a private clinic operator and the CEO of ÖGK, Bernhard Wurzer, and the president (currently deputy) of the ÖGK, Matthias Krenn, will be interviewed.
Prikraf is a fund from which private hospitals receive money, provided they provide medically necessary services for those with compulsory insurance. Who receives the benefits is stipulated by law. The accusation is that a donor from FPÖ was accepted in 2018 after having introduced then-Vice Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache several times. The volume of the pot was also increased under the turquoise blue, from which a donor from ÖVP also benefited.
Sobotka can be represented
The fact that Thursday is the only day of the week for polls is because on Wednesday the National Council meets for a special session on the subject of asylum and integration at the request of the FPÖ. According to parliamentary correspondence, the U Committee meeting scheduled for that day will therefore be postponed until October 20.
Meanwhile, next week should be a bit calmer in the discussion about the presidency of the president of the National Council Wolfgang Sobotka (ÖVP), because Sobotka will be represented by the ÖVP MP Andreas Hanger next week. But it is far from over, especially since the Sobotka Greens had recently suggested pulling out. The leader of the ÖVP parliamentary group, Wolfgang Gerstl, even identified a “new coalition of four” against Sobotka.
