According to Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler, cultural events should be possible again from January 18, but viewers must be able to show a negative Covid test.

Additionally, starting on January 18, 2021, there will again be a 500 person and 750 person person restriction for outdoor events. The federal states will decide on the disputed opening of the lifts between the federal and state governments. However, FFP2 masks should be worn on gondolas, says Kogler, who is also the Minister of Culture and Sports.

Mask requirement increased – negative corona tests are mandatory at events

Overall, the mask requirement is significantly reinforced by the corona measurements announced on Friday: If you cannot show a negative test result after January 18, you must wear an FFP2 mask when shopping and at work, if otherwise only protection for the mouth and nose would be required. Additionally, certain professional groups such as teachers, hairdressers, waiters, and salespeople should be tested weekly. Anyone who refuses to do so must also wear an FFP2 mask.

“This is a strategy until a sufficient number of people have been vaccinated,” Kogler said of a plan for the coming winter months. “We allow closeness, but conversely, we don’t want any explosive contagion as a result.”

Countries determine the opening of ski lifts

The federal government wants to leave the opening of the ski lifts to the federal states, within certain guidelines, Kogler said, among other things, an FFP2 mask requirement will apply on the gondolas.

All about locking the crown
