Bankruptcy proceedings were opened on Friday in the Salzburg regional court through the Klier hairdressing chain. According to management, the Bergheim, Flachgau-based company is over-indebted as a result of the Corona crisis, but has liquid funds and is solvent.
The chain, with 281 employees, runs 30 “Frisör Klier” stores, four “Reduced Price Hairdressers” stores and a “Cut and Color” studio throughout Austria. All operations will continue for the time being.
Loss of confinement accumulates
According to information from Frisör Klier GmbH to the creditor protection associations, an operating loss accrued in the weeks of closing in spring. However, once the measures were relaxed, profits could be made again in May 2020. The blockade changed the rate of customer booking, causing a decline in sales. At the same time, the festivities were canceled and distance regulations had to be implemented in the branches.
70 creditors affected by the bankruptcy of Klier
The amount of the obligations has not yet been determined. Yes, and if so, how many branches could be closed depends on possible reorganization measures and has yet to be determined, credit protection association KSV1870 told the APA. Around 70 creditors are affected by bankruptcy.
The German parent company and sole shareholder, Klier Hair Group, as the largest hairdressing chain in Germany, requested a protective shield procedure in early September to carry out a makeover on its own. Foreign affiliates in Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia were not initially affected.
