Kapfenberger SV is in the quarterfinals of the ÖFB Football Cup. Upper Styria prevailed in a duel between two second division teams on Tuesday against Blau Weiß Linz 2-0 (0-0). Alexander Steinlechner (47th) and Marvin Hernaus (64th) met at Kapfenberg after a goalless first half for the hosts. The quarterfinal draw will take place on Wednesday night.
Kapfenberg entered the game as an outsider, as the Linzers are placed in the second division as third, clearly ahead of the Styrians (13th). However, Upper Austria missed the first jump to the top eight round of the cup. Steinlechner headed in a corner and Hernaus used a counterattack against Linz to score his second goal.
On Wednesday, the hit round between defending champions Salzburg and Rapid is on the program (8.30pm / ORF 1 live). There will also be the games WAC – SKU Amstetten and LASK – Elektra Wien (both ORF Sport +).
