Sasa Kalajdzic put VfB Stuttgart into the knockout stages of the German Cup on Wednesday. The ÖFB team forward scored the golden goal in the 15th minute for the 1-0 home win over SC Freiburg and has six goals in 14 competitive matches this season. Kalajdzic played as well as Philipp Lienhart on the other side.

VfL Wolfsburg also reached the round of 16. Fourth place in the Bundesliga table beat SV Sandhausen despite Corona’s concerns and numerous failures – among other things missing Xaver Schlager, who was quarantined as a contact person – deserved 4-0.

Yannick Gerhardt (27th), Wout Weghorst (30th, 91st and Joao Victor (41st) scored the goals for coach Oliver Glasner’s superior team, who put ÖFB Pavao Pervan’s goal back on the bench.

Werder easily enter the second round: Hannover out of a chance

A difficult year, a conciliatory finish: Werder Bremen easily entered the knockout stages of the DFB Cup. Coach Florian Kohfeldt’s team deservedly won 3-0 (2-0) in the second round of the second division Hannover 96. Theodor Gebre Selassie (30th) and Josh Sargent (32nd) led Werder with one on Christmas Eve Double hit from the start, Jean-Manuel Mbom (60th) made it all clear. Hannover remained pale overall.
