AMS chief Johannes Kopf speaks out against part-time work as a permanent solution and expects unemployment figures to drop next year. You think it is worth discussing the possibility of additional unemployment benefits.

The Press: MAN, Swarovski, Doka, ATB, Sacher – Deleted job reports are changing. Is this the start of a big wave of layoffs?

Johannes head: The economy is contracting between seven and nine percent this year. When the global economy collapses, it is clear that some companies will run out of air. Unemployment will now increase due to the season, in winter there are always 100,000 more unemployed than in summer. Sure to expect more bankruptcies. But we still don’t see a second wave of unemployment. Short-term work is also surprisingly stable. Next year we expect the number of unemployed to fall by 30,000.

You sound very optimistic.
