The Vienna police have now published a report containing new information on the course of the crime. The attacker acted in the attack in Vienna in a radius of 75 meters in the Bermuda Triangle at Schwedenplatz. Four people died in the process before he himself was shot.
The 20-year-old was first seen in a video on the corner of Desider-Friedmann-Platz and Judengasse. How it got to this location is still being determined. According to early findings, the killer came from the meat market / farmers market via the Jerusalem Stairs or the Judengasse from Hohen Markt.
The killer’s jacket found
The terrorist’s jacket was also found at Desider-Friedmann-Platz; it is likely that he brought her there before the attack. From there he started the attacks and shot the first victim, a 21-year-old man, in the direction of the meat market stairs.
He then ran towards the Judengasse and, according to the investigators’ report, he randomly shot the Kalashnikov in the direction of Ruprechtsplatz. The 24-year-old German student who worked as a waitress in a restaurant on Ruprechtsplatz was killed.
The assassin continued the attack on Seitenstettengasse in the direction of Rabensteig. There he shot the third victim with a Kalashnikov, a 44-year-old Austrian. The woman later succumbed to her gunshot wounds at the hospital.
He turned around near Rabensteig and went back up Seitenstettengasse in the direction of Judengasse. As he passed, the perpetrator fired at the 44-year-old man again, this time with a pistol.
Gun fights with the police
Then he turned around again, walked down Seitenstettengasse and turned left onto Rabensteig. There he shot a 39-year-old Austrian in front of a bar in the entrance area. The door of the restaurant had several bullets. The man was found dead in Franz-Josefs-Kai, it is probable that he himself fled there.
On Schwedenplatz several shootings followed between the killer and the police. WEGA officials chased the perpetrator below the Ruprechtskirche. The 20-year-old fought several shootouts with two members of the special unit before he was shot by an officer in the Ruprechtsplatz shooting.
According to the preliminary result of the autopsy, the terrorist was shot below the left shoulder blade.
