Across Austria, 4,000 police officers will be on duty on New Year’s Eve to review the provisions of the Pyrotechnics Act. There are heavy fines.

The police will be more present at the turn of the year and will also monitor compliance with the provisions of the Pyrotechnics Law. This was announced by Interior Minister Karl Nehammer (ÖVP). Almost 4,000 police officers will be on duty on New Year’s Eve. “The year 2020 placed special and extraordinary demands on all of us. So let’s end it carefully and carefully,” Nehammer appealed.

Ban on pyrotechnics

Basically, there is a ban on the use of pyrotechnics in the local area, even on New Years Eve. Mayors are free to make exceptions for certain parts of the local area. Violations of the pyrotechnics law result in fines of up to 3,600 euros.

Nehammer appeals to reason

The president of the community federation, Alfred Riedl, and Nehammer again called for no fireworks to occur outside the local area this year. This can be easily used to relieve medical personnel in hospitals and emergency rooms.
