Increase in crown numbers – Vienna with more than 400 new cases

Once again, more than 800 new SARS-CoV-2 infections have been recorded in Austria in the last 24 hours. In Austria there were 813 cases, the number of active cases on Saturday was 7,748 people.

A total of 349 people were in the hospital on Saturday. 84 of them were in intensive care units, about 35 percent more than on Friday. The death toll also rose by two: 765 people have died as a result of the corona virus since the outbreak of the pandemic. A total of 37,657 people have tested positive so far.

Distribution of the new cases to the federal states:

– Vienna: 432
– Upper Austria: 108
– Tyrol: 80
– Lower Austria: 70
– Steiermark: 58
– Vorarlberg: 32
– Salzburg: 18
– Burgenland: 10
– Krnten: 5

The southernmost federal state was also the only one with fewer than 100 active cases on Saturday: 78 in Krnten. Most of the active cases were still in Vienna with 4,136. Lower Austria recorded 955 active cases of Covid-19, 730 in Upper Austria and 701 in Tyrol. Styria reported 465 active cases on Saturday, Vorarlberg 395, Salzburg 174 and Burgenland 114.

Nationwide, more than 18,000 tests were entered into the Resident Epidemiological Registry (EMS) in the last 24 hours. Compared to Friday, 18,134 PCR tests were added. 7,163 of them were in Vienna. 2,581 were reported from Tyrol and 2,525 from Lower Austria. There were 1,755 more PCR tests in Styria than on Friday, 1,413 in Upper Austria and 1,011 in Vorarlberg. The remaining three federal states stayed well below 1,000 tests. After all, 772 were registered in Salzburg in the last 24 hours, 578 in Burgenland and the backlight, as with the actively infected Krnten, with 336 tests.
