The number of cases and the 7-day daily incidence have been increasing for days between Bregenz and Eisenstadt. According to experts, this is related to increased testing and relaxed exit restrictions. Virus variants are also spreading. According to Covid-19 data center calculations, Austria has a higher death rate than Germany, South Africa and the Netherlands with 93.4 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants. It is slightly lower than that of Switzerland and Sweden (124). Compared to the countries with the highest death toll (San Marino, Slovenia, Belgium and the United Kingdom), it is about half.
The relaxation of the crowning measures with simultaneous tests for certain areas has placed Austria in the first international field in terms of the number of tests in the previous week. It is not known when restaurants and hotels will reopen. After repeated postponements in recent weeks, this time it could be until Easter.
