In Friday’s only ICE ice hockey league game, Black Wings Linz clinched a 3: 2 (2: 1.0: 1.0: 0; 1: 0) win in extra time near Salzburg. The decisive goal was scored by Dragan Umicevic, and Rick Schofield scored twice for Salzburg to make it 1-0 (4th) and 2-2 (40th). For Linz (8 points) it was only the third success in the eighth game after two early wins. Salzburg (13) remains third behind Leader Capitals (16) and Graz (14).
The winner of the Upper Austria match was strong goalkeeper David Kickert, who was immediately ennobled by his own coach: “For me, David is the best goalkeeper in the league,” enthused Pierre Beaulieu.
The 19th round game was brought forward after all four games on the ninth game day, which were actually scheduled for Friday, had to be postponed due to several crown cases. Only Black Wings, Salzburg and Bratislava Capitals are in action this weekend in the two scheduled matches. As the league said in a statement Friday, the corona pandemic will also not be able to prevent necessary short-term changes down the road.
