The Graz 99ers have parted ways with head coach Doug Mason due to his current negative series in the ICE Hockey League. In his place, former Kotrainer Jens Gustafsson takes over. The 46-year-old Swede will be supported by Patrick Harand as an assistant coach with immediate effect. Mason had to leave for Graz after four years, during which he led the team to victory in the 2018/19 basic round, among other things.

“It was definitely a difficult decision, but inevitable after eleven losses in twelve games. Doug Mason has built a lot in Graz over the last four years and has done a very good job, ”general manager Bernd Vollmann said Sunday at one.
Club broadcast and thanked the Canadian for his work.

Successor Gustafsson has been with the 99ers since the 2018/19 season, before that, among other things, he was a junior coach in his home country. “In long-term planning, Jens was always his successor, this step has now been advanced,” says Vollmann, who is convinced that there is still a chance of being in the top five and making the play-offs. The Styrians are currently eighth.
