The incident was observed by two witnesses. Based on their description of the perpetrator and the indicated escape direction, police officers were able to arrest a 45-year-old man from Linz in the area of ​​the railway bridge construction site. According to police, the man, who was noticeably drunk, confessed. He felt threatened by the statues, the so-called Guardians of Time.

One of the two statues, not exactly cheap, was still floating upside down in the water, the other could no longer be found. With the help of a winch, the professional fire brigade pulled the damaged art object out of the Danube. According to police, property damage should be in the five-digit range.
