“I would have loved for an investor to join my project. The fact that all five are a milestone,” says Florian Peterstorfer. The Welser presented their launch “Die Beekerei” last night on the program press 4 “2 Minuten 2 Mio”. With success: he got 124,000 euros for investments.
Two products from Welser, 39, met with the jury’s interest: a honey wine that tastes dry rather than sweet, and capsule-shaped bee bread. Peterstorfer became aware of bees and honey seven years ago. He learned about the death of bees in Upper Austria, obtained information about the animals in books and videos, and started buying colonies himself. In 2016, he took a year off from his job as a sales manager for a tech company in Wels and trained as a beekeeper. Two years later he founded his “beekeeping”. “I’ve always liked sales, but the real art is selling your own products.”
The individual entrepreneur now has 130 bee colonies in and around Wels. It also cares for the apiaries of Hofer, Greiner, Resch & Frisch and the eww group. “I’m busy, but I’m still a small fish by comparison. A plea for domestic honey
He is pleased that the beekeeping scene in Austria is growing. “Many recognize the importance of bees and honey food.” Sauer discovers that half of the honey requirement in Austria is covered by imported honey. “All domestic beekeepers are required to change that.”
Peterstorfer himself wants to grow “healthy” with investments in his still young company. Since May 1, an employee supports you to fill and label the honey.
