“Better advertising” for identities
Was what followed then honest or intellectually honest? At least it will be remembered.
When Thür asked if the symbols of the far-right Identity Movement should be banned, Hofer said: “I don’t care about symbols.” Background: the Interior Ministry is planning such a ban and there is one in the FPÖ Board decision, according to which it should not be possible to be an active member of the right wing extremist identities and FPÖ official at the same time. Secretary General Michael Schnedlitz recently questioned this in an interview with a relevant magazine. Then he rowed again.
Hofer insisted on several occasions that he did not want to talk about identities, but about radical Islam and possible omissions in relation to the night of terror in Vienna in early November. The moderator did not meet this requirement until Hofer broke his neck: “What you are doing here at ORF is the best publicity for this movement. “In each interview, FPÖ politicians are asked about this” mini-mini-mini-group. “This would give identities a much larger platform than necessary.
Hofer continued: “Now I also know that it was good that he de-registered the SIG. The “Mandatory Funded ORF” has nothing better to do than speak to a mini-group after a terrorist attack. So will the board of directors’ decision be withdrawn, Thür asked? “That’s not a very smart question,” Hofer replied, addressing the moderator again: “If you like it, make a seat circle with the identities.” And finally he repeated his criticism in the style of the interview. “It’s really a red herring.”
