Red Bull Salzburg did excellently against Atlético on matchday two of the Champions League in Madrid. Jesse Marsch’s team lost to the rojiblancos only 2: 3.
In the first half, the Bulls gave the big favorite a duel at eye level. Although the Spanish had higher odds and slightly better chances, Salzburg sold dearly.
A bitter sequence for the bulls after about half an hour: Patson Daka had to be replaced with a thigh injury and Marcos Llorente took the lead for Atlético.
But just ten minutes later, Dominik Szoboszlai tied with a thunderbolt that beat Jan Obkal. The break was 1: 1.
The second break got off to an ideal start for the Bulls: Andreas Ulmer fit in perfectly in the penalty area and Megrim Berisha, with the help of Felipe, made it 2-1 for Salzburg (47th).
But the joy did not last long: at 52 minutes, Joao Félix drew with Correa after a double.
Then Atlético and Salzburg delivered an open exchange of blows with chances from both sides. However, the blow happened to the favorite: after a set piece, Felix again welded the ball to the net to make it 3-2.
