After leaving the Vienna Green City Council Club in November, Birgit Hebein will retire from the party leadership for the foreseeable future.
The former deputy mayor announced via Facebook on Wednesday that she would resign as party president in January.
“Dear friends, the year is coming to an end and it is time to say goodbye to you and to you as regional presidents of the Vienna Greens party. As a result of the dynamics and decisions at the City Hall Club, I will resign as chair of the match in January. Without the confidence of the club, if I cannot do justice to the task of representing the entire State Party, that can only be done together, ”Hebein said.
Hebein was able to achieve the best result historically for his Vienna Greens party in the Vienna elections in October. However, the kos were expelled from the coalition with the SP after ten years. The then deputy mayor and councilor was no longer in charge of any function by the City Council. Hebein later resigned his seat on the council, but initially remained leader of the party. She was elected to this position until the end of 2021. Although she announced in November that she wanted to resign from this position much earlier.
