On September 1, 2020, what had been signed the day before was officially announced: the Hargassner family business from Weng im Innkreis, active in the biomass boiler sector, takes over from Gilles GmbH & Co KG from Gmunden, which also produces heating boilers. The parties agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
The focus of integration is on growth. The goal is to bring together the best of both companies. Hargassner CEOs Markus and Anton Hargassner speak of an “important milestone for the future development of the company” with the acquisition. “Gilles is a perfect fit in the Hargassner portfolio: the acquisition strengthens our position in our markets.”
Gilles CEO Wolfgang Krämer is also very satisfied: he sees the benefits of Gilles products through Hargassner’s powerful organizational structure and international dealer network.
Corresponding synergy concepts were jointly developed for the product lines and will be implemented in the coming months. In the future, Gilles products will be sold through the Hargassner sales structure. Gilles employees will be integrated into the new structure of the company. In addition, a new competence center for industrial plants will be built in the Gmunden area. Another major concern of the new owners is that customer service and the supply of spare parts for existing Gilles customers continue to be of the usual quality.

More participation
In order to further strengthen its presence in the field of renewable energies, Hargassner has also acquired a stake in Thermosolar from Kelheim in Germany. This company deals with the development, production and sale of innovative solar thermal energy systems (also in combination with a heat pump). The already very wide range of Hargassner products, the integration of the Gilles company and the participation in Thermosolar means that Hargassner is also ideally equipped for the future requirements of the European heating market.

Company details
The Hargassner family business from Weng im Innkreis employs 450 people (m / h) and produces heating systems for pellets, parts and wood chips in the power range from 6 to 330 kW. Hargassner operates internationally and has grown to become one of the leading suppliers to the biomass heating sector in Europe thanks to its many innovations.
Gilles Energie- und Umwelttechnik from Gmunden is involved in the development and sale of pellet and wood chip heating systems in the power range from 12 to 160 kW and, in recent years, also increasingly and with great success in the construction of industrial plants from 180 to 2500 kW.
