Hamburg Customs discovered half a ton of cocaine on a freighter in Brazil. An arrest warrant was issued against a 42-year-old crew member, according to the customs investigation agency. According to investigations, the 180-meter freighter, flying the Montenegrin flag, would arrive in Hamburg through England and smuggle drugs into Europe.
Consequently, the local police picked up the boat as soon as it entered Dutch waters and handed it over to their German colleagues. German customs accompanied the ship on its way to the port of Hamburg, as they said. As a result, the search for the freighter began on Friday night.
The approximately 500 kilograms of cocaine were packed in airtight bags. Investigators reportedly discovered additional sacks, buoys, lines, and a GPS transmitter. “Obviously, it was planned to throw the cocaine overboard with the transmitter, where an accomplice would pick it up in a boat,” he said.
