Because a resident was suspected of being a member of a terrorist organization, a search of the house was carried out on Saturday at an asylum shelter in Güssing.

Roland Koch of the Eisenstadt prosecutor’s office confirmed the corresponding media reports on the police operation on Sunday. However, the search had nothing to do with the attack in Vienna, he stressed.

Officers found no weapons, ammunition or explosives, Koch reported. Polls and questioning on Saturday “did not result in any urgent suspicions against the person,” he said. Therefore, he remained at large. However, due to initial suspicion, he acted “immediately”. The investigation continued.
