Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean was released from the hospital three days after his serious racing accident. The Haas racing team announced that he will continue to be treated for the burns on his hands and will remain in Bahrain.

The Frenchman had previously announced in a Twitter photo that he had been allowed to remove part of the thick bandages from his right hand and use his fingers. “I almost cried. A victory on my road to recovery,” he wrote.

The Haas driver had an accident at the Bahrain Grand Prix shortly after Sunday’s start. His car crashed into a protective barrier and caught fire. Grosjean had just managed to escape from the cabin.

At the next race at Sachir on Sunday (6.10pm, live on ORF1 and on live broadcast) he will pause and be replaced by Brazilian Pietro Fittipaldi (24). Grosjean is still looking forward to getting back in the car a week later at the season finale in Abu Dhabi. At the end of the year he has to leave the Haas team.
