The rule should be that everyone returning from a Covid-contaminated foreign country must be in mandatory quarantine. The quarantine period lasts for ten days. After five days, you should be able to take the test for free, but it will take some time before the test result arrives.
Currently you can enter the country with a negative test no longer than 72 hours.
This time of quarantine and waiting for the test result should not be considered excused in the workplace. This means that you should take an additional ten days of vacation if you travel to countries that have a Covid travel warning during Christmas.
These government plans spell bad news, especially for people with relatives in the Balkans or Turkey. In the case of family visits, an additional ten days should be expected to be spent in quarantine.
Turkey suffered more than 31,000 new infections on November 30 and is in the process of imposing curfews and closures at night, according to the responsible department of the Interior Ministry.
Serbia registered more than 6000 new infections as of November 30 and has a 7-day incidence of 711.
The quarantine requirement should not only apply to the countries mentioned, but to all countries with a 7-day incidence of 100 and more. This currently affects all neighboring countries. Therefore, those who go to Switzerland for skiing holidays should also be quarantined.
When exactly the quarantine obligation for returning travelers comes into effect is still open. In any case, it should come before Christmas.
