All members of the government, except Schallenberg, tested negative for the corona virus. The tests were done as a precaution.
Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg (ÖVP) is the only member of the Austrian government infected with Corona. The tests of all other members of the government, carried out as a precaution, came back negative, reported the APA from the Foreign Ministry on Saturday afternoon.
As a precautionary measure, members of the government were examined to determine the outcome.
The Chancellor participated this Wednesday in the Council of Ministers and in the Plenary of the National Council. Since both he and other members of the federal government wore masks, health authorities also rated those who had direct contact with him as contact person 2 (low risk exposure). This also applies to MPs and employees with whom the Foreign Minister was in direct contact in Parliament.
Schallenberg, who was tested on Friday afternoon, could have been infected on Monday, according to the Foreign Ministry at the EU Council of Foreign Ministers in Luxembourg. On Saturday afternoon it became known that Belgian Chancellor Sophie Wilmes was also infected with the corona virus.
