Music legend Gotthilf Fischer dies The director died on Friday near Stuttgart with his family. Fischer was 92 years old.
Esther Müller, his longtime manager, told BILD on Wednesday: “Gotthilf fell asleep peacefully around noon. He did not have a serious illness, it was just old age. Today he was buried. “
For decades, Gotthilf Fischer conducted his famous Fischer choirs, which sometimes had more than 1000 members. Fischer recorded more than 50 records with them and received several gold records.
In 1974, his appearance with 1,500 members of the choir at the Munich soccer World Cup final was broadcast around the world. Later he made regular tours with the choirs to the United States.

Gotthilf Fischer brought millions of fans of folk music to the screens with his ARD program “Straße der Lieder” (until 2008). Fischer twice received the Federal Cross of Merit for special services to German folk song.
